Ilir Shaqiri the Greatest Albanian Patriot Singer
postuar me: 2007-10-15 05:58:29 Ilir Shaqiri was born in Buroje of Drenica in 06.12.1960. He finished his primary school in Turiqec, his secondary school in Prizren, and his advanced studies of Alban.ian language in Prishtina and Prizren.
He first went public as a performer in 1978 in front of the House of Culture in Prizren. In 1983 he won the top prize in the fesit.val "Rapsodet Kendojne". In 1984 as part of the Culture Society "Akumulatori" in Mitrovica he wins another prize and recoginition in Kaqanik Festival. In 1985 he created an ansamble with Hamez Jashari called "Drenica". In 1988 he released his first music album called "Djem petrita ka rrit Drenica". In 1989 he released "Luma e kuqe ka lidh bese" and "Fale te qofte gjaku Kosove". In 1990 he released "Fjalet e Qiririt" an his first video called "Plisat udhetojne kah dielli". Ilir Shaqiri in 1994 took part in the international festi.val "Folkmoot USA " in North Carolina where he received a special prize. In 1995 he won the two top prizes in the Prish.tina Music Festival "Albanian Song". In 1998 Ilir Shaqiri released his music album "Ketu Shkelqen Plisi", and took part in 68 concerts all over Europe in support of KLA: Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, UK, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Holand and Alba.nia. In 1999 he released "Clirimtari". In 2000 "Garda e Kosoves". In 2001 "Kenget e Perndritjes". Ilir Shaqiri is the author of more than 400 songs ranging from folk, traditional and argtation music. He has taken part in more than 1000 concerts and out of those 900 where done for charity. Since 1988 he has been the most sought singer in alba.nian radio stations and everywhere else amongs albani.ans. His songs have feature in many TV channels and radio stations across the globe.
Leonora Jakupi - the most popular singer
postuar me: 2007-10-15 05:42:49 Leonora Jakupi was born on 3 March 1978 in Skënderaj, Kosova, and is an ethnic Albanian singer.
She is one of the most popular commercial singers among ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro. Today Leonora lives in Kosovo capital Prishtina.
She lost her father during the Kosovo war (1998-1999); he was killed by the Yugoslav security forces. Her repertoire includes a wide variety of material including commercial pop and patriotic songs. She is not married.
Her most popular song, without any doubt, is "Can innocence be killed"(A vritet pafajsia) published in 1998 while Leonora was a war refugee in Albania. She dedicated the song to her father and other Albanians who died during the Kosovo war.
Bleona Qerreti - an International Singer.
postuar me: 2007-10-15 05:40:20 One of the most well-known singers, actress and show-girl from Albania , Bleona audience stretches from within Albania to the surrounding major Albanian Communities. These include, Kosovo , Macedonia , Montenegro as well as the Diaspora in Western Europe and the United States . Since she was young girl, she was actively engaged in different youth artistic activities in her hometown of Korca and Elbasan. Her first international representation was in the Balkans Festival in 1991 in Preveza , Greece . During 1991-1994 she worked as singer and show-girl in a variety show of the professional theater "Skampa".
During 1994, at the age of fifteen, she participated in the national song festival organized by the Albanian Radio and Television. During 1995 she participated in the spring song contest representing herself well .Her first major impression was at the national song contest in December 1995 with "Leave me on my own".
After a successful participation in the spring song festival of 1996, she was invited in a tournament in Switzerland among many well-known Albanian singers. She tried also with the traditional music by participating at the World Folk Festival held in France in August 1996.
Thoma Simaku - a great, internationally known composer

Born in Albania in 1958, Thoma Simaku studied composition at the Tirana Conservatoire (1978-82) with Tonin Harapi. In 1991 he moved to England and continued his postgraduate studies with David Blake at the University of York (1991-96) where he was awarded a PhD in Composition.
Winner of the much coveted Lionel Robbins Memorial Scholarship (Simaku was the only candidate in the UK to win it in 1993), he also was the 1996 Leonard Bernstein Fellow in Composition at Tanglewood Music Centre in the USA with Bernard Rands, and a fellow at the Composers’ Workshop - California State University (1998) with Brian Ferneyhough. In 2000 he was awarded a highly prestigious Fellowship from the Arts & Humanities Research Council in London.
